Self Storage Basics
The self storage phrase is short for self-service storage; storage facilities rent or lease out spaces to individuals or business.
Individuals can use this space to store household goods, extra items, etc. Business can store excess inventory, records,
etc. These self storage spaces are usually referred to as storage units, they can also be called storage lockers, storage
garages but the most common usage is storage unit.
The renter of the storage unit must provide there own lock, or purchase one from the storage facility. Some storage
facilities use cylinder locks and must be purchased from them. The facility usually never has access to the storage unit
when rented. Keys can sometimes be left with the facility so packages delivered there can be placed in the unit, or other
people allowed access to the unit can retrieve a key.
